Magpupungko Rock Pools

Low tide reveals a beautiful natural pool at this idyllic stop. A dramatic rock formation on the edge of the pool is composed of a large rock that appears to be squatting on another rock. ‘Pungko’ in Visayan means to squat. Thus, the name Magpupungko. The clear warm waters of the pool are deep enough to allow rock jumping from the namesake rock. Fish and other marine life provide a fantastic opportunity for snorkeling. Accessible by boat or road, this spot is a 45 minute ride from General Luna. No stop here would be complete without a burger and beer at Bollox Bar on the ride home. If you have a few too many beers, you can stay at Bollox Bar’s free-of-charge ‘Drunks Dorm’.
